One step in God's process to transform you

When God leads, obey Him.

Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)

Remember the story of warning about an unnamed prophet from Judah? It’s in 1 Kings 13. God told him what to do, and he was doing it. Then another prophet from Bethel lied and said he had an overriding revelation. The prophet of Judah allowed himself to be convinced by the prophet from Bethel and disobeyed God. Suddenly, the prophet of Bethel prophesied that the prophet of Judah had disobeyed God and so would die. They parted company, and a lion killed the prophet of Judah. God never told us the motive of the prophet from Judah because that’s not the point.

Coming to a more recent time, a couple received a word from God to sell their business for a certain amount and received an unsolicited offer for that amount the same day. They had been taught to always discuss major decisions with the elders of their church before going ahead, which they did. One of the elders advised them to ask for an additional $2,000 dollars. The other elders seemed to agree with that advice. The couple listened to their elders rather than listening to God, and the deal fell apart. From that time forward, the business began to fall apart ending in loss of their house and bankruptcy several years later. They sought God as to why their prayers for blessings on their business ended this way, and God reminded them of their disobedience. Had they sold, their house would have been paid off and they would have been debt free.

Notice what happened in both cases. A clear word came from the Lord. The word was confirmed in the physical realm. Another came in with a different word supposedly from the Lord. The person receiving the revelation rejected the word from God and accepted another word.

Ask God to answer these questions.

  1. What mistake did the prophet of Judah make?
  2. What happened when the prophet of Judah disobeyed God?
  3. What mistake did the couple make when God told them to sell their business?
  4. What happened to the couple’s business when they disobeyed God?
  5. What did God remind the couple after their business failed?

Bonus questions:

  1. Why is it important for you to listen to God instead of people?
  2. What does it mean when a word from God is confirmed to you in the “physical realm”?

Seeking God about Your Future

AUDIO RECORDING FOR REFLECTION:

  • You can use this recording to help you learn how to get close to the Holy Spirit. You don’t have to use it. Even if you use it at first, eventually, you won’t use a recording. You’ll just know how to get close to Jesus and stand in His presence.
  1. Pray for the Lord to protect you and keep you in His presence and His presence only.
  2. Direct your mind toward the Lord only.
  3. Ask God the two questions and take notes on what God says. “What lies to I believe about my future?” “What is true about my future?”
  4. Do not edit or change what God says even if you don’t understand it.
  5. Out loud, reject the lies.
  6. Out loud receive the truth.
  7. Transfer your notes to your journal without editing what God said to you.

Keep in mind that God doesn’t want you to ever disconnect from Him. He wants to flow through you constantly in knowledge, wisdom, and love.
