The Munchausen trilemma destroys all possibility of ungodly logic, philosophy, or science. Without God, all of these are built on assumptions, and an assumption is something someone makes up and treats as if it were real. If you ever heard anyone say, “All things are relative,” or “There are no absolutes,” this is where those ideas come from. Godless thinkers don’t want this limitation on their thinking. They have tried every way to get around this problem, and they can’t find a way without God. Human beings can’t reason to truth. When we try, we just rationalize. We think irrationally and use logical fallacies to trick ourselves into thinking we’re being rational.
Here’s the simple answer to the problem. To know anything, you have to know Someone Who knows all things, can’t lie, and has all power to overcome the deceptive lying nature of the fallen human mind. That Person is Jesus Christ, and you can know Him. He speaks to every person. If it weren’t for Christ, we would be stuck, but we can ask Him questions, and He answers us.
Someone may say, “I have to go to work and concentrate on my job, so I can’t spend my time listening for the leading of God.” If you have to think and make decisions, why wouldn’t you want the only Source of all wisdom and knowledge with you? Without Jesus, you have no wisdom, and that’s not good.
Do you have the habit of working on your own without Jesus leading you? Habits are hard to break. Ask God to help you learn a new habit. Learn to flow in the Anointing of God’s wisdom everywhere you go. Get in the habit of flowing in His love. Practice His Presence and let His glory carry you to higher heights and deeper depths.
Ask God to answer these questions.
- What does “all things are relative” mean?
- What is an assumption?
- Why can’t you reason to truth without God?
- How does Jesus let you know the truth?
- Why is it important for you to have Jesus’ wisdom when you make decisions?
Bonus questions:
- How can you learn to listen for God’s guidance in your life?
- How can your dependence on God make your life better?
SEEKING GOD
audio recording for reflection: |
- Pray for the Lord to protect you and keep you in His presence and His presence only.
- Direct your mind toward the Lord only.
- Ask God what He want’s to talk about.
- You can ask God any questions. In all of this, be led by the Holy Spirit. God promises that He will answer you if you ask Him.
- Do not edit or change what God says even if you don’t understand it.
- Reject the lies and receive the truth.
- Take notes.
- Transfer your notes to your journal without editing what God said to you.
Keep in mind that God doesn’t want you to ever disconnect from Him. He wants to flow through you constantly in knowledge, wisdom, and love.
Search Engine Exercise
Type “ungodly philosophy and science” into a search engine and find websites like biblestudytools, sunshynegray, or openbible that list many Bible verses on the topic. Use the ones that take input from the users rather than those that are trying to cherry-pick Scripture to prove some point. As you go through the verses listed, you will find that some are on the topic and others don’t fit very well. This is a great place for discussion about which ones fit and why. Let the Holy Spirit lead you in this. (Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.) Take what you learned, your notes or what you produced and videotape yourself. Become a kid influencer for Christ with your own social media platform by uploading your video as God leads.
