We are made righteous through Jesus:

“God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

We are in the process of being transformed and conformed to the likeness of Christ:

“For those God foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.” (Romans 8:29)

“Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6)

God is forming the life of Christ in us and replacing our sinful nature:

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

When we yield to the Spirit we overcome the flesh:

“For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.” (Romans 8:13)

Righteousness comes through faith in Jesus:

“This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile.” (Romans 3:22)

Righteousness comes through faith, not our own works:

“And be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith.” (Philippians 3:9)

We offer ourselves to God as instruments of righteousness and living sacrifices and being transformed to do God’s will:

“Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to Him as an instrument of righteousness.” (Romans 6:13)

Ask God to answer these questions.

1. What does it mean for you to be righteous through Jesus?
2. What does it mean for you to be conformed to the likeness of Christ?
3. How does God work in you to transform you?
4. What does it mean for you to live by faith in Jesus?
5. How will you overcome your fallen fleshly nature?

1. What does it mean for you to offer yourself to God?
2. How does righteousness come through faith?
3. How does being conformed to the image of Christ happen?
4. What does Philippians 1:6 mean when it says God will complete the good work He began in you?
5. How can you truly live by faith in the Son of God?
6. What does it mean to overcome the flesh by yielding to the Spirit, as described in Romans 8:13?
7. How can you put to death the misdeeds of the body and choose to live according to the Spirit?
8. How does righteousness come through faith in Jesus?
9. How does the transformation described in Romans 6:13 connect to offering yourself as a living sacrifice?

1. Pray for the Lord to protect you and keep you in His presence and His presence only.
2. Direct your mind toward the Lord only.
3. Ask God what He want’s to talk about.
4. You can ask God any questions. In all of this, be led by the Holy Spirit. God promises that He will answer you if you ask Him.
5. Do not edit or change what God says even if you don’t understand it.
6. Reject the lies and receive the truth.
7. Take notes.
8. Transfer your notes to your journal without editing what God said to you.

Keep in mind that God doesn’t want you to ever disconnect from Him. He wants to flow through you constantly in knowledge, wisdom, and love.

Search Engine Exercise

Type “what does the Bible say about Righteousness” into a search engine and find websites like biblestudytools, sunshynegray, or openbible that list many Bible verses on the topic. Use the ones that take input from the users rather than those that are trying to cherry-pick Scripture to prove some point. As you go through the verses listed, you will find that some are on the topic and others don’t fit very well. This is a great place for discussion about which ones fit and why.

Let the Holy Spirit lead you in this. (Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.) Take what you learned, your notes or what you produced and videotape yourself. Be a kid influencer for Christ with your own social media platform by uploading your video as God leads. Learn to stand in God’s presence and hear His voice. Then teach others to do the same.
