One step in God's process to transform you

Some people think you grow to be more like Jesus by human effort of doing all sorts of good things. That’s not true. And yet, you can grow to be more like Jesus, but your part is to listen to God and yield to His grace so His grace can work through you. That’s true. Let me explain.

Changing to be like Jesus doesn’t just take one step. It’s a journey. Study the diagram. This diagram shows one step on this journey. Each step takes only a moment, and you just keep walking step by step to complete the journey. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says you are becoming more like Jesus every day. The Holy Spirit changes you from one level of goodness to another, making you more like Jesus. The veil is the sinful fleshly nature that keeps you from seeing spiritual things clearly. In 2 Corinthians 3:18 it says we are looking at the glory of the Lord without the veil as if we are looking into a mirror at the glory of the Lord and then we’re changed from glory to glory. It just keeps getting better. Colossians 1:27 says **** First Thessalonians 5:23 tells you that you have three parts: a spirit, a soul (mind), and a body. Our bodies aren’t set free yet. The spiritual war is over control of peoples’ souls (minds). Will you let the devil control your mind, or will you turn your mind over to Jesus? The devil tries to convince you that you are still slaves because your bodies aren’t free. God set your spirit free the moment you accepted Christ as your Lord and King. Now, the devil tries to take over your mind, using bad TV shows, games, friends, books, and songs. And the devil has many other ways to try to take control of you. God speaks to you through your spirit to transform your mind to be like Jesus.

Ask God to answer these questions.

  1. Why can’t you become more like Jesus by just doing good things?
  2. What does it mean to yield to God’s grace?
  3. How does the Holy Spirit change you to be more like Jesus?
  4. What is the veil, and why does it stop you from seeing spiritual things?
  5. What does it mean to be changed from glory to glory?

Bonus questions:

  1. What are the three parts of you, and how are they different?
  2. Why isn’t your body set free yet?
  3. How does the devil try to control your mind?
  4. How does God speak to your spirit to help you?
  5. What should you do to make sure your mind belongs to Jesus?

SEEKING GOD

audio recording for reflection:

  1. Pray for the Lord to protect you and keep you in His presence and His presence only.
  2. Direct your mind toward the Lord only.
  3. Ask God what He want’s to talk about.
  4. You can ask God any questions. In all of this, be led by the Holy Spirit. God promises that He will answer you if you ask Him.
  5. Do not edit or change what God says even if you don’t understand it.
  6. Reject the lies and receive the truth.
  7. Take notes.
  8. Transfer your notes to your journal without editing what God said to you.

Keep in mind that God doesn’t want you to ever disconnect from Him. He wants to flow through you constantly in knowledge, wisdom, and love.

God designed your mind to flow in His Spirit. It won’t work properly without His presence. Learn to stand in God’s presence and hear His voice. Then teach others to do the same.

Fishbone (Cause and Effect) Diagram Exercise:

Draw a cause and effect diagram that makes sense for this unit. You can read more about cause and effect diagrams in (Fishbone Diagram Info). This simple tool can help you understand how to make things work, why things aren’t working, or why things are happening in a certain way. Review the article and find the most important effect you want to look at and put that in the box on the left end of a line. From the center line, draw one branch for each cause. Think of the branches as streams feeding into the main river that leads to the effect.

Let the Holy Spirit lead you in this. (Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.) Take what you learned, your notes or what you produced and videotape yourself. Be a kid influencer for Christ with your own social media platform by uploading your video as God leads.
