“Do not quench the Spirit.” (1 Thessalonians 5:19)
The flesh resists the Spirit.
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30)
The Holy Spirit is in you to guide you. Listen. Yield.
“As for you, the Anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His Anointing teaches you about all things and as that Anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in Him.” (1 John 2:27)
There is a place in the church for the ministry of the teacher, and the Holy Spirit may teach you through an Anointed teacher, but many teachers don’t have the Holy Spirit. They depend on human intellect and learning.
“The gatekeeper opens the gate for Him, and the sheep listen to His voice. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out. When He has brought out all His own, He goes on ahead of them, and His sheep follow Him because they know His voice.” (John 10:3-4)
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake.” (Psalm 23:1-3)
The Lord guides you. That’s what the 23rd Psalm is about.
“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.’“ (Isaiah 30:21)
You have known many times when God has guided you in this way. God’s intent is that you come deeper into His presence and never leave. He wants you to flow with His wisdom and knowledge perpetually.
“Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” (Psalm 25:5)
That’s a prayer God will answer.
Ask God to answer these questions.
- What does it mean to quench the Spirit?
- How do you grieve the Holy Spirit?
- How does the Anointing teach you?
- Why don’t all teachers have the Holy Spirit?
- How can you recognize the voice of Jesus like His sheep do?
Bonus questions:
- Why does the Lord lead you to quiet waters in Psalm 23?
- How does God guide you when you don’t know which way to go?
- What does it mean to stay in God’s presence?
- How can God’s wisdom and knowledge flow in you all the time?
- Will God always answer prayers like “Guide me in your truth and teach me”?
SEEKING GOD
audio recording for reflection: |
- Pray for the Lord to protect you and keep you in His presence and His presence only.
- Direct your mind toward the Lord only.
- Ask God what He want’s to talk about.
- You can ask God any questions. In all of this, be led by the Holy Spirit. God promises that He will answer you if you ask Him.
- Do not edit or change what God says even if you don’t understand it.
- Reject the lies and receive the truth.
- Take notes.
- Transfer your notes to your journal without editing what God said to you.
Keep in mind that God doesn’t want you to ever disconnect from Him. He wants to flow through you constantly in knowledge, wisdom, and love.
Flow Chart Exercise
Create a flow chart suitable for this unit. (Flow Charting Info) Flow charts show the flow of a process. The first thing that happens is usually at the top. That is followed by the second thing, then the third, fourth, and so on.
Let the Holy Spirit lead you in this. (Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.) Take what you learned, your notes or what you produced and videotape yourself. Be a kid influencer for Christ with your own social media platform by uploading your video as God leads.
