Back to the diagram. God speaks. When you look to the Lord, the Father speaks the Word (Jesus) in some form of leading. If you receive that leading, Jesus authors faith in your heart. This is the faith of the Son of God, God’s Word. When you receive that faith, the Son of God is manifested in you in the form of belief. You believe, and yet not you, but Christ. Faith gives you access to grace. Grace does God’s work through you. You yield. Then the flesh dies a little bit and Christ is formed more fully in your mind.
2 Corinthians 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
You yield to God’s Spirit
Romans 6:13 “Do not present the parts of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and present the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.”
God transforms you
Romans 6:19 “I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to escalating wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.”
IMPORTANT: Righteousness is Christ working through you to do the Father’s will in the moment. Holiness is Christ permanently formed in you, which is the definition of spiritual maturity.
IMPORTANT: When the Father leads, He is the Sower. He sows the Seed (the Word, Jesus) into your heart. You can reject it. If you receive it, the Seed finds good ground and brings forth fruit. It also transforms you. Next time, we’ll go into some detail on how that works.
Ask God to answer these questions.
- What happens when you yield to God’s Spirit?
- How does God transform you?
- What does it mean to present yourself to God?
- What is righteousness?
- How does righteousness lead to holiness?
Bonus questions:
- How are you transformed into the image of Christ; what is the process?
- How is that different or the same as you growing into Christ and becoming more like Him?
Keep in mind that God doesn’t want you to ever disconnect from Him. He wants to flow through you constantly in knowledge, wisdom, and love.
SEEKING GOD
audio recording for reflection: |
- Pray for the Lord to protect you and keep you in His presence and His presence only.
- Direct your mind toward the Lord only.
- Ask God what He want’s to talk about.
- You can ask God any questions. In all of this, be led by the Holy Spirit. God promises that He will answer you if you ask Him.
- Do not edit or change what God says even if you don’t understand it.
- Reject the lies and receive the truth.
- Take notes.
- Transfer your notes to your journal without editing what God said to you.
Keep in mind that God doesn’t want you to ever disconnect from Him. He wants to flow through you constantly in knowledge, wisdom, and love.
Learn to stand in God’s presence and hear His voice. Then teach others to do the same.
Sequence Diagram Exercise
Review the article for this unit and create a sequence diagram that shows a sequence you find in the article. (Sequence Diagram Info) A circle starts the sequence. You can also add a circle to end a sequence. The rectangles at the top are the actors, and they should all be nouns. Each actor has what is called a life line running vertically below it. The horizontal arrows show the actions (verbs) between the actors (nouns). If you look at the example, you’ll quickly understand. Let the Holy Spirit lead you in this. (Romans 8:14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.) Take what you learned, your notes or what you produced and videotape yourself. Become a kid influencer for Christ with your own social media platform by uploading your video as God leads.
