There is no path to truth outside of divine revelation. All godless thinking has a foundation (weak link) or assumptions. That’s not just atheists. That’s every one of us who, at any moment, aren’t looking to our Lord Jesus for His wisdom and knowledge. There is no true wisdom, knowledge, love, joy, peace, or anything else good outside of Him. He’s the Light that lights every person. Unfortunately, those who refuse to thank Him and give Him the glory for the Light lose the distinction between light and darkness.
Truth is reality. Reality is what it is. All wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Christ, and Christ is the Truth. This wisdom, knowledge, and truth isn’t something you can capture any more than you can capture the Mississippi River by sticking a glass in it and pulling out a glass of water. The second you separate from Christ, the life goes out of whatever you learned and it becomes dead letter.
Some atheists use a debate tactic of claiming “you have the burden of proof.” It’s a childish way to avoid responsibility. They try to say, “I haven’t made any claim. You claim to know God exists. Prove it.” That way, they don’t have to defend any position since they have no position. Regardless of the evidence you show them, they just say, “That doesn’t convince me.” Don’t go there with them. They know. God says they know. God says they are without excuse.
Since God says everyone knows, believe God. God says they are without excuse. But what an atheist believes has no effect on you. It’s not that you don’t care, but there’s little you can do to help someone who has decided to take a firm position, whether it’s “There is no God,” “I don’t know that God even exists,” or “I don’t accept claims of any god until evidence comes to light and belief is warranted.”

No building is stronger than its foundation. No chain of thought is stronger than its weakest link.
Ask God to answer these questions.
- What is divine revelation?
- Why can’t we find truth without God?
- What does it mean to lose the distinction between light and darkness?
- Why is Christ called the Light?
- How is truth like the Mississippi River?
Bonus Questions:
- What does “dead letter” mean when learning something without Christ?
- Why does God say everyone knows He exists?
- What does it mean to have no excuse if you don’t believe in God?
- Why do some people say “you have the burden of proof” in a debate?
- How can we help someone who says they don’t believe in God?
SEEKING GOD
audio recording for reflection: |
- Pray for the Lord to protect you and keep you in His presence and His presence only.
- Direct your mind toward the Lord only.
- Ask God what He want’s to talk about.
- You can ask God any questions. In all of this, be led by the Holy Spirit. God promises that He will answer you if you ask Him.
- Do not edit or change what God says even if you don’t understand it.
- Reject the lies and receive the truth.
- Take notes.
- Transfer your notes to your journal without editing what God said to you.
Diagram Exercise
You can draw a diagram when you want to explain how something works. For this exercise, look at the picture of the chain. The chain is a good way to understand a single assumption ruins logic and reasoning. You could show that another way. For example, no building is stronger than the weakest point in its support. Ask God to show you how to draw this. Use paint, markers, pencils, and colored construction paper to draw a diagram or a picture to show this. Then post your creation on social media for everyone to see. Write your explanation of your diagram or picture.
